I am a wildland firefighter and have been for 18 seasons and fought countless fires in region 5. I am truly sorry to the Laird family, he was a true role model for kids to say I want to be like him, " want to be a firefighter when I grow up" he will be missed deeply! God needed an angel! sincerely David Owen
Dan lived with my brother and worked with him on the Tahoe National Forest. We had some fun times together hanging out. I grew to know Dan in the late 1990's and tried to recruit him to work for me as Captain, on the Eldorado in 2000. I remember him as a kind, funny, good-natured person, who was in great physical condition and who had good fire sense and a strong intellect. I just learned of this tragedy and I am so sad for his family. My sincerest condolences to you all. He made the world a better place. Debra Keirsey
Rest in Peace, my friend. I will miss you
